The view from the plane, the speed boat across crystal waters to your island to greeting upon arrival the Maldives truly is a magical and beautiful place. It can be done on any budget! – NO VISA needed!

We travelled with Oman air and we paid roughly 400GBP return flights for two people. Our hotel was on the expensive side (it was our anniversary so we decided to fork out!) however, you can book the same island but not an ocean villa and it will be a fraction of the price. They have hotel rooms on the island, villas on the island with both garden and ocean view or you can book an ocean villa If your looking for a romantic getaway and privacy.
We booked for four nights, during this time we relaxed, snorkelled, swam with stingrays, blacktip reef sharks and sea turtles.

Upon arrival we were greeted with a mocktail, cold towel and flowers (adding that little touch always gets brownie points). We would highly recommend this island, we researched many and it really helps to have true reviews as once your on the island that’s it unless you book tours.
The island we stayed on was called Kanuhuraa Island and the resort was called Cinnamon Dhonveli Maldives you can book here on Booking.com or http://www.cinnamonhotels.com/en/cinnamondhonvelimaldives/ This resort is also a surfers paradise ‘it’s simply the best location for surfers with the quality and consistency of Pasta Point and the proximity to three other world class waves.’

During our downtime we explored the bay and the island.

We booked various tours however, the best we went on was to swim with the giant sea turtles, during the trip we were also greeted by a small nosey reef shark. The waters in the Maldives are stunning crystal clear, its like a giant swimming pool. We would highly recommend that trip as the coral reef was still living and it was amazing.

We would defiantly advise to go all inclusive otherwise you are paying per meal on the island and its not cheap – depending on the island. If your a fish fan then try out the catch of the day from the BBQ...

Sunsets are NOT to miss!! Grab a cocktail and head to the waterfront, watch the reef sharks swim past while the sun goes down.

We travelled during March/April and the weather was beautiful, don’t forget your sun-protection.
